The graveyard shift began with its familiar dance – deputies pushing cows from Highway 30 into darkened cornfields at 1:41 AM on Friday, then corralling another near mile marker 437 two hours later. Between these rural rituals, they found time to comfort a panicked driver on Highway 75’s shoulder, who declined transport but needed those quiet moments of reassurance.

As Friday’s sun rose over school patrols and slow highway traffic, a more troubling case emerged: a woman reporting persistent harassment, learning her options for protection orders. Evening brought coyote hunters’ explanations of gunfire near CR P9, and Cody Soukup’s second DUI charge marking the day’s end.

Saturday’s pre-dawn hours caught Madison Goranson (9/26/05) facing DUI charges, while Fort Calhoun High School hosted its basketball tournament under watchful eyes. The afternoon saw Ivan Cervantes (4/1/86) lose his license privileges, followed by Michelle Kydney (11-03-85) facing the same fate. Alyssa Inget (03-08-00) chose surrender, turning herself in on a county warrant.

Sunday unfolded with a Ford Fusion writing its own strange story – three trips into the ditch along 120 yards of CR 8, earning its red tag. Then came urgency: deputies locating a suicidal woman behind Mandarin House, pulling her to safety from the creek. Hours later, a driver fled through Blair’s roundabout, disappearing into heavy traffic before pursuit could begin.

The weekend closed with Buay Goach (01-13-75) answering to a Sarpy County warrant, while Monday’s earliest hours returned to routine – fifteen Arlington businesses checked, fourteen in Fort Calhoun, the eternal rhythm of rural law enforcement marking time until the next call.
