MONDAY
The week began with a hospital case stretching past midnight – a patient refusing to leave Blair ER at 2:17 AM got a ride to 4300 West Street. While Fort Calhoun’s fifteen businesses stood secure and Arlington’s fourteen were quiet, dawn revealed an Omaha vehicle stolen and abandoned in a ditch at 180th Street and Dutch Hall.
Monday’s light brought school patrols to Arlington and Fort Calhoun, then a woman, fresh from hospital, found in someone’s garage at 4600 Circle Drive. Deputies arranged her placement at a Fremont shelter. By 9:43 AM, they were corralling cows off CR 15 and CR P10. Fort Calhoun’s day darkened with a child abuse report, while Kennard saw Cade Cosler arrested on a Washington County warrant. A tow truck working CR 36 and CR 21 cleared before deputies arrived.
The night exploded at 9:23 PM when a traffic stop near Highway 75 mile marker 105 turned to pursuit. The vehicle crashed into a heavily treed creek, its driver fleeing into darkness despite deputies and OPD K9 units searching the area. Evidence seized from the vehicle marked the day’s final act.
TUESDAY
Tuesday brought three deer encounters: one dispatched with a road kill tag at Highway 30’s River Bridge, another struck at 2100 Highway 75, a third hit in the 3700 block of CR 15. Between these, Arlington patrol caught someone driving the wrong way on a one-way street. An iPhone crash alert near Highway 75 and CR P43 led deputies to find the device, still functioning in the ditch.
WEDNESDAY
Wednesday’s drama centered in Fort Calhoun, where a heart attack call led to the reporting party admitting meth use. Later, Anson Antenor (6/25/91) faced arrest on a Douglas County warrant at Highway 30 and Pittack Street. A suspicious person reported at 17300 Dutch Hall Road went unfound.
THURSDAY
Thursday saw a male in a black hoodie and ball cap at 2500 March Hare Lane leave before deputies arrived. A damaged light post at 1200 Lynnwood Lane needed no report – the owner’s son was responsible. The night ended with a white 2000 Ford F-150 red-tagged near Highway 30 and CR 25, while deputies searched unsuccessfully for a long-haired teenager in a dark hoodie trying to wave down cars near CR P11.
FRIDAY
Friday’s early hours found deputies pushing a cow off Highway 30 into a cornfield at 19300, then checking Arlington’s businesses, before helping a driver having a panic attack near Highway 75 and CR P38. As dawn approached, they corralled one final cow near Highway 30’s mile marker 437 – another week of rural law enforcement drawing to close.CopyRetry
