Six Seniors were recognized for the amount of work they put in over the course of their high school career. Jaslyn Raymond, Jocelyn Inget, Siena Smith, Alison Wheeler, Karlie Dewitt-Dodd, and Riley Martin started the first girls wrestling team at Blair High School, making history.
“I’m super proud of all of them. This was a brand new sport four years ago, and the fact that they’ve been with it, whether it’s been all four years or for a portion of that, they really are trailblazers,” said Blair Assistant Coach, Kyle Kerger.
Seniors Jaslyn Raymond and Jocelyn Inget started off the meet against Logan View on a high note. Raymond getting 6 points with a forfeit, and Inget with four takedowns in one match receiving 5 points to add to the Bears’ score.

“My goal for Senior Night was to work on some skills and to push my teammates to be better,” said Inget.
Katelynn Wheeler escaped twice and then pinned Willow Geiger of Logan View one minute and fifty-four seconds into the match. The Wheeler sisters, Katelynn and Ali, scored a total of 30 points over the whole night. The Bears ended up 69-12 against Logan View.

“Being able to be part of the Varsity team feels really good…I’ve enjoyed making new friends,” said Katelynn Wheeler.
Ella Chamberlain of Arlington had three takedowns against Madeline James, who responded with a pin ending the match and receiving 6 points for the Bears’ score. The Bears pinned half of their 14 matches against Arlington. The Bears ended the dual up 61-18.

Kendall Magana-Torres of Fort Calhoun had six takedowns against Senior Ali Wheeler, who responded with a pin to end the match. The Bears’ closest dual was against Fort Calhoun with an ending score of Bears up 57-15.

“As a team captain and a Senior, I like being able to help them stay motivated and keep them going,” said Ali Wheeler.
