Diane D. Konfrst, 78, of Blair, Nebraska, passed away on February 4, 2025, following a life filled with family, horses, and meaningful work.
Born April 19, 1946, in Freeport, Illinois, to Lester and Doris Kruse, Mrs. Konfrst grew up in Lanark, Illinois, where she also graduated from high school. After raising her children in Lanark, she moved to Blair in 1974, where she built her own home. In 1977, she married Frank Konfrst in Blair, where they made their life together, raising children and horses.
Mrs. Konfrst’s lifelong passion for horses was evident in her participation in shows, trail rides, and parades. Her professional career included time at Vickers before joining Union Pacific, from which she eventually retired.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; children Steve McKenna and Dave McKenna (Bridgette); stepchildren Beccie Newberry, Wayne Konfrst, and Greg Konfrst (Sherri); fourteen grandchildren: Ashley, Chelsea, Paige, Brittany, Devin, Matt, Shane, Sean, Sami, Erica, Adam, Josh, D.J., and Justin; seventeen great-grandchildren; and her sister Darlene. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Darryl and Duane.
