Chinese Food and Missing Fingers

Monday, December 2, 2024 Deputies conducted business checks through Fort Calhoun and Arlington in the early hours, pausing to clear raccoons from Highway 75’s mile marker 109. A 3:17 PM trespassing call drew them to 2300 CR 37, while rush hour brought a disabled vehicle blocking Highway 30. The evening saw deputies addressing concerns about misdelivered Chinese food, investigating natural gas odors near Highway 91 and CR 23, and red-tagging a stranded Nissan Xterra.

Tuesday, December 3, 2024 After tagging an abandoned Ford Escape and assisting a transient to Sorenson Parkway, deputies responded to a vehicle rollover on CR P28’s gravel curve where the driver declined medical transport. A weaving driver on CR P9 south of Highway 30 led to a DUI arrest, while in Kennard, an abandoned F150 with flat tires received a 24-hour tag. Night patrol mediated an Arlington disturbance before handling an injured deer near Pine Crest.

Wednesday, December 4, 2024 Wednesday brought the week’s serious notes: three arrests, plus the kind of call nobody wants – a Fort Calhoun worker who lost the tips of every finger on his right hand. Deputies arrived to find someone had already applied a tourniquet before rescue transported him. Between that drama, loose hay bales on Highway 75, credit card scams, and helping Blair PD with warrant arrests, deputies still caught an open door during Arlington checks that thankfully led nowhere.

Thursday, December 5, 2024 A juvenile domestic incident in Blair started the day, followed by morning business checks. Deputies assisted searching for a suicidal subject on Co Rd 24, gathered evidence on North Ridge Road, and investigated Amazon fraud claims. The day ended assisting a stranded motorist out of fuel at 2100 Highway 75.

Friday, December 6, 2024 Early morning business checks in Fort Calhoun and Arlington preceded a 2:18 AM accidental medical alert on Co Rd 49.
