Multiple personal injury accidents on Friday kept Washington County deputies busy along Highway 75 and Hollow Road in Blair. Deputies assisted Blair Police with traffic control for two separate crashes, including a three-vehicle collision.
The first accident occurred around 11:00 AM near Hollow Road and Highway 30. Shortly after noon, deputies assisted Blair Police with traffic control for a three-vehicle personal injury accident at Highway 75 and Hollow Road.
The weekend saw a spike in DUI enforcement, with deputies making two arrests in the early morning hours of Sunday. Jordan Backens was arrested in Arlington around 2:25 AM, followed by the arrest of Dylan Remm just thirty minutes later near Highway 133 and County Road P26.
On Thursday, deputies assisted game wardens with a male party hunting over bait at Boyer Chute. The same day saw a warrant service in Herman and a probation arrest in Blair. Eric Jacobe was arrested for driving under suspension following a traffic stop at Holly Street and Highway 30.
Deputies responded Thursday morning when two daughters were reported missing, possibly traveling in an older blue SUV along Highway 133. Despite immediate response, officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
Modern technology prompted two investigations when deputies responded to an iPhone crash alert on Dutch Hall Road Thursday night, and a possible property damage incident reported via phone notification early Sunday morning in the 5000 block of County Road P37. Neither incident was located.
The department maintained its commitment to school safety with regular patrols at both Fort Calhoun and Arlington schools. One traffic stop for a one-way street violation was issued during Arlington’s afternoon school patrol.
Overnight business checks continued throughout the county, with deputies checking 12-15 locations during each patrol of Arlington and Fort Calhoun. All businesses were found secure.
A unique case of attempted fraud emerged Sunday when a local resident reported a scam attempt while selling puppies online. The suspect, reportedly from Minnesota, was documented.
The week concluded with a car versus deer collision on Highway 75 at County Road P30, resulting in a report being taken.
