Memorial Community Hospital (MCH) in Blair is taking steps to address women’s health concerns in our community through an innovative educational program. The hospital will host a Lunch and Learn session on Tuesday, November 19, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Howard Conference Room, featuring women’s health specialist Dr. Kristina Pakiz.
The session will focus on understanding and treating painful periods and endometriosis, with Dr. Pakiz sharing insights into NaproTechnology’s fertility-preserving treatments. This approach aligns with MCH’s commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare solutions for Washington County residents.
Manny Banner from MCH emphasizes the hospital’s broader commitment to community health: “MCH recognizes the impact of endometriosis on working women and is committed to addressing it through patient education and partnerships with OB-GYN practices for seamless referrals. We aim to collaborate with local businesses to promote workplace wellness by providing education, fostering supportive policies, and improving access to care.”
As the primary provider of Occupational Health Services for many organizations in the county, MCH is uniquely positioned to understand and address these health concerns within our local workforce.
The impact of this initiative extends beyond the lunch hour session. “MCH is dedicated to supporting women seeking fertility-preserving treatments and specialized care,” Banner explains. “Our primary care physicians, OB-GYN providers that visit MCH as well as independent and System practices in the area are available for consultations, while our Social Worker can assist in connecting patients with additional resources and specialized services.”
Looking ahead, MCH recognizes women’s health as a growing area of need and plans to expand its knowledge and resource network to better serve the community.
The Lunch and Learn session is open to everyone interested in women’s health and workplace wellness. Registration is available by calling 402-426-1464 or scanning the QR code provided at MCH locations.
