The first hours of November 15th marked a common thread in Washington County law enforcement – the relentless cycle of midnight patrols. Deputies checked twelve Fort Calhoun businesses at 12:08 AM, then at 2:14 AM assisted a citizen walking from South Sioux City to Omaha with a ride to Irvington. By 3:57 AM, fifteen Arlington businesses were secure.
Morning school patrols in Fort Calhoun and Arlington gave way to the day’s first crash – a car versus deer at Highway 75 mile marker 108. The afternoon brought a series of arrests: at 3:01 PM, Juan Andres (2/18/01) for driving under suspension at Highway 75/CR P43, followed by Tammy Lisle (7/11/66) at 5:07 PM on a Dodge County warrant at 2000 Kellie Drive.
The evening of the 15th logged a litany of rural concerns – a lost handgun somewhere in Missouri, a cat shot by unknown parties at 9500 CR P32, a brown 1994 Chevy Astro earning a 24-hour red tag at 3900 Highway 75, and another car-deer collision at CR 19 and CR 38.
As November 16th began, Fort Calhoun yielded more arrests during a 2:53 AM traffic stop: Damani Penney (07/25/1995) for driving under suspension and passenger Samantha Phillips (11/15/1998) on a Douglas County warrant. Blair police later arrested Russell Ingraham (1/5/70) for DUS, while Nolen Marten (8/16/99) faced DUI charges near the Highway 30 county line.
The weekend wound through a grass fire without permit at 10500 CR P17, a faulty carbon monoxide sensor on Lynnwood Lane, and culminated with an unresponsive female at 4400 Highway 133, transported to Blair Hospital. By 2:17 AM Sunday, when she refused to remain at the ER, deputies provided transport to 4300 West Street – another quiet night in rural Nebraska drawing to a close.
