As I write this, it’s -5 degrees outside, and I’m already thinking about lunch. I know I want something I don’t have to cook, which presents a choice: brave frigid, wildly-unpleasant cold, or have something delivered.
Most people think Blair’s delivery options are limited to just fast food joints and pizza. But that’s not the case anymore.
Today, I’m ordering what I had last Friday – lunch from the Blair Classic Cafe via DoorDash. I was skeptical at first (delivery and local don’t always equal quality), but my meal exceeded all expectations. The portions were perfect, and delivery took less than 15 minutes from order placement.
When I saw Blair Classic Cafe’s Facebook post announcing they’d joined DoorDash last week, I was thrilled. I’m constantly telling local restaurant owners to add delivery. “This is 2025,” I say (last year it was “This is 2024″… in 2023 it was, well, you get the point). People want choices and convenience. They want to support local businesses, but local needs to step up and compete with the big franchises on order and delivery options.
Aaron Leisure, owner of Blair Classic Cafe, is the first local restaurant owner I’ve seen on DoorDash who gets it. I couldn’t be happier for him – or for my wife and me.
Today, I’m ordering the Chicken Fried Chicken Lunch. If it’s anything like last week’s Chicken Fried Steak, it’ll be hot, fast, and delicious. We’re talking real mashed potatoes, vegetables, soup, buttered toast, and salad – a proper meal, delivered right to my door on this insanely cold January day.
To be clear: this isn’t a paid endorsement. Blair Classic Cafe didn’t pay me to write this. I’m simply letting you know there’s an alternative to cooking, braving the cold, or eating more pizza and burgers.
As far as I can tell, Blair Classic Cafe is currently the only local restaurant (excluding fast food and pizza places) on DoorDash in Blair. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Support them, order your lunch from them today, and then encourage every other local restaurant to follow their lead.
