Washington County Chamber of Commerce Announces Upcoming Events and Initiatives

The Washington County Chamber of Commerce has released its latest update, highlighting several community events and initiatives for the fall season.

A) October 24, 2024: Great Plains Communications Trunk or Treat, 4-6pm

B) October 27, 2024:

  • Carter Place Trick or Treating, 3:30pm
  • Christ Lutheran Church Free Concert w/Zellmer Family Ministry, 3-7pm

C) October 31, 2024:

  • Last day of Scarecrow Contest
  • NE Extension Washington County Lunch and Learn, 12pm

D) November 6, 2024:

  • Monthly Chamber Ambassador Meeting, 12pm at Chamber Office
  • Lutheran Family Services Community Fair, 5-7pm at Gym @ Dana Village

E) November 8, 2024: Family Dental Center of Blair’s Free Dental for Those That Have Served

F) November 11, 2024: Deadline for Community Service Award nominations

G) November 12, 2024: Washington County Chamber Presents Artificial Intelligence Lunch and Learn, 12pm at Chamber Office

H) November 15, 2024:

  • Deadline for Chamber Board Member nominations
  • St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church Generational Healing Mass, 6:15pm

I) November 28, 2024: St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church’s 14th Annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner, 11am – 2pm

J) December 6, 2024: End of Annual Medicare Open Enrollment period

K) January 16, 2025: Washington County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Meeting (where Community Service Award will be presented)

The Chamber is currently seeking nominations for its annual Community Service Award, to be presented at the Annual Meeting on January 16, 2025. Nominations are due by November 11, with recipients chosen based on their contributions to community-oriented projects and civic engagement.

Local businesses and residents are encouraged to participate in the ongoing Scarecrow Contest, running through October 31. Participants can showcase their creativity by displaying scarecrows outside their businesses and submitting photos to the Chamber.

The Tannenbaum Festival is seeking volunteers to donate soup for the event, with chicken noodle, mild chili, and vegetarian options needed. Those interested should contact the Chamber office.

Upcoming Chamber events include a Lunch and Learn session with NE Extension on October 31, and an Artificial Intelligence workshop on November 12. The Chamber is also seeking new board members for the 2025-2027 term, with nominations due by November 15.

Community events highlighted in the update include Great Plains Communications’ Trunk or Treat on October 24, Carter Place’s Trick or Treating on October 27, and St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church’s free Thanksgiving dinner on November 28.

The Chamber reminds members that the Medicare Open Enrollment period runs from October 15 to December 6, encouraging residents to review their healthcare options.
