George Tintera Named Executive Director of Blair Family YMCA

The YMCA of Greater Omaha has announced that George Tintera has been named the new Executive Director of the Blair Family YMCA.

Career Background

George began his YMCA career in Chicago as a Youth Sports Director before joining the YMCA of Greater Omaha in 2017. At the Maple Street YMCA, he first served as Youth Sports Director and later as Senior Director, also providing program leadership at the Butler-Gast YMCA.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Tintera has worked at the YMCA of Greater Omaha for 7 years and 9 months. He currently serves as Senior Membership Director at the Maple Street YMCA, a position he has held since August 2022. Prior to this role, he was Sports Director from December 2017 to October 2022, overseeing Youth Sports department for Maple Street YMCA, Butler-Gast YMCA, and Downtown YMCA.

Before joining the YMCA of Greater Omaha, Tintera worked at Buehler YMCA in Palatine, Illinois for 2 years and 8 months. He served as Sports Director from October 2015 to June 2017, where he created and managed budget for the sports department, promoted and sold sports programs and leagues, developed and facilitated sports programs and leagues, managed court rentals and court schedule, hired, trained, scheduled, and supervised sports staff, ensured upkeep of facilities and equipment, and ensured safety procedures were followed according to YMCA standards.

From November 2014 to October 2015, he was Member Development Specialist/Sports Instructor at Buehler YMCA, where he greeted and welcomed members, directed members to departments and answered questions, registered and enrolled members in programs, assisted in administrative tasks, provided tours and sold memberships, coached, taught, and facilitated sports programs, refereed and coached in children and adult leagues, and taught Physical Education for Kindergarten and Preschool classes.

Earlier in his career, from September 2012 to September 2014, Tintera served as Camp Director at Our Savior Summer Camp in Carol Stream, Illinois, where he programmed and scheduled field trips, marketed the camp to communities, collected payments, kept record of finances, created registration packet, developed daily schedules, scheduled and supervised staff, and facilitated daily activities.

Education

Tintera attended George Williams College from 2012-2014, earning a degree in Recreation Management, Parks, Recreation and Leisure Studies. He graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Recent Work

Tintera has led quality programs, drove membership engagement and led facility operations with large staff and volunteer teams. Earlier this year, he supported the Blair Family YMCA task force, helping to grow youth sports offerings in Washington County.

As Executive Director, Tintera will lead the Blair YMCA through its strategic alliance with the YMCA of Greater Omaha, focusing on program growth, staff development, fundraising, and ensuring long-term sustainability.
