BLAIR, NE – The City of Blair is pressing ahead with storm recovery efforts following the severe weather that struck the area over the weekend, leaving damage, downed trees, and widespread power outages in its wake.

Debris Cleanup Underway
Public Works crews have begun the first round of storm debris collection. Residents are asked to place tree debris between the street and sidewalk, ensuring neither is blocked.

Once this initial sweep is complete, the City will announce a second round of pickup, giving residents at least five days’ notice before it begins.

For those who wish to drop off debris directly, three collection points are available:

  • South of the Washington County Recycling Center (near 3rd Avenue & Colfax Street)
  • Vet’s Field Parking Lot (13th & Butler Avenue)
  • East Parking Lot (off Angel Shares Drive & Hansen Drive)

OPPD Working to Restore Power
The City remains in close contact with OPPD as power restoration continues. As of this morning, about 1,100 customers in Blair and Ashland remain without power. OPPD’s goal is to have all outages restored today.

Residents who still do not have power are urged to report outages directly via OPPD’s website or by calling 1-800-554-OPPD (6773).

Stay Connected, Stay Informed
The City is encouraging all residents to sign up for the Emergency Alert System via the City of Blair’s website to receive real-time updates on recovery efforts and other emergency notifications.

Community Spirit on Display
Over the past several days, Blair residents have demonstrated remarkable resilience. Neighbors have stepped in to help one another, proving once again that “we are better together.”
