Looking for evening entertainment near Blair on January 10? The Fort Calhoun Community Schools Foundation’s fifth annual Trivia Night is just a 10-minute drive down Highway 75, featuring professional game show veteran Mike Monday as host.
“We wanted to do something different and fun,” says Jamie Bouwman of the FCCS Foundation. “It gives people a chance to get out with friends after the holiday craziness and goes to a great cause.” The event, now in its fifth year, raises funds for scholarships, with Bouwman noting, “We try to get as many tables as possible, the more tables the more fun it is.”
Monday, who’s appeared on Jeopardy! and won on Debt, Hollywood Showdown, and Smush, has been hosting trivia throughout Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa since 2011. His multimedia presentations include video and audio elements across ten rounds of questions. Bouwman confirms, “Mike Monday sets up and runs the trivia night. If I recall, he has 10 rounds of 10 questions in different categories. He’ll add different fun additional games like Heads or tails.”
Teams compete for two types of prizes: “Your team can win by answering more questions correctly or decorating your table, which is voted on by the judges,” explains Bouwman. While tables accommodate up to eight players at $320 per table ($40 per person for a full team), Bouwman notes that “some teams don’t have a full team of 8 people” though “more brain power could make the difference.”
Set for January 10, 2025, at Schwertly Hall (215 N 13th St, FC), doors open at 6:00 PM with trivia starting at 7:00 PM. The 21+ event is BYOB and snacks. Both advance registration and door payment are accepted.
